William Rettberg Obituary

William "Bill-Bo" Rettberg

February 2, 1956 - April 20, 2018
Born in Jamestown, NY
Resided in Big Lake, Alaska

William “Bill-Bo” Rettberg departed to the Great Hunting Grounds above on April 20 2018, back to the woods where he loved to be. Bill spent his free time, and the majority of any other time he had hunting, fishing and trapping.

It was the late 1970’s when Bill made his journey to Alaska, the Last Frontier, and made it his home. At the time, Bills attire and mannerisms could have been right out of the 1870’s, but he fit right into the Alaska lifestyle, and he never left.

For many years Bill painted cars until health complications prevented him from doing so. He then found a way to enjoy his true passion in life, which was hunting and fishing. He became an assistant hunting and fishing guide and thereafter got paid to live his dream, and do what he loved. For over 14 years as an assistant guide he got to enjoy the great outdoors and hunt parts of the state most people only dream of seeing.

Bill waits on the other side for his devoted wife Kelly Rettberg, his children Oliver and Jessica Deckard, his sister Terri Rettberg and wife Mynet, sister Peggy Swanson and her husband Keith, his niece Kristine Weise & family, his nephew Mathew Swanson & family, and last but not least his grandchildren Ophelia Deckard and Laramie Gibson whom he loved, enjoyed and doted upon.

Services will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Wasilla, Alaska at 3PM on May 2nd followed by a Celebration of Life at Floaters, in Big Lake.
