Born in Shawnee, Oklahoma
Resided in Anchorage, Alaska

Steven Andrew Thrasher passed away in the care of the Divine Mercy Assisted Living Home in Anchorage, Alaska. He was 62 years old. He was cremated by the Cremation Society of Alaska. His ashes will be spread in Beluga and Bird Creek Alaska.

Andy was born to Jim and Thelma Thrasher in Shawnee, Okla. In June 1960, he moved to Anchorage, Alaska with his family. He was preceded in death by both his parents; and his sister, Tina Brooks.

After graduating from A.J. Dimond in 1975, Andy spent the next three summers working as a surveyor for the White Alice Defense System and two winter's working as a seismic driller on the North Slope. He then moved to Nome, Alaska, where he worked a variety of drilling jobs; and thaw field jobs for the local gold mining company. By the mid 1990's, Andy had relocated to Beluga, Alaska, which he made his permanent home and lived the remainder of his days working as a fisherman and general laborer. He lived a neat, orderly, self reliant, incredibly inventive life of simplicity. Very far off the grid; making most of his needs with his own hands. Always willing to help his neighbors. Always busy and industrious. Always with plenty of coffee in hand. Andy was one of the toughest men we will ever know.

Andy is survived by his children; Corina Thrasher, Cyrus Thrasher and Neva Thrasher; his siblings, Laura "Lolly" Crosby, Mike Thrasher and Sherrill Tilbury; and an amazing 9 grandchildren from ages 2 to 21.

Andy's family is tremendously grateful to his Beluga neighbors, Duane and Nancy Gluth and Jim Vanaman. Their care and concern for Andy and his wishes have been a relief and comfort to his family. The family is also very thankful to his care giver Ellie Pentecostes and her staff, who were like family to Andy during his final days.

Peace out, brother. God rest you in grace and keep you safe.
