As a small child Sonja lived in Cordova and Soldotna. In August 1983, the family moved to Anchorage, staying there until June of 1990 and then moved to Wasilla. Sonja enjoyed live music, theater, hot-tubbing, being read to and going outdoors to enjoy nature. She loved all animals. She participated in Special Olympics bowling. During the holidays, Sonja volunteered as a Christmas bell ringer at Wasilla Fred Meyer.

“Sonja’s life was short and yet much longer than most expected due the exceptional care provided to her over the years by many care providers. She touched many lives and taught us all so much about empathy, patience, kindness, perseverance, joy in simple things and unconditional love. We want to thank all the care providers, therapists and physicians that helped make Sonja’s life journey possible. She is now finally free. We will miss her.”

She is survived by her parents, Tom and Teri Namtvedt; brother, Erik Namtvedt; sister, Heidi (Josh) Peters; grandmother, Arlene Wise; grandfather, Bud (Karla) Lewis; uncles, Mike (Cindy) Lewis, Pat (Ellen) Lewis; aunts, Katchen Helwig, Melissa (Bill) Wendell; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
