July 22, 1946 - November 4, 2020
Born in Fargo, North Dakota
Resided in Anchorage, Alaska

On Nov. 4, 2020, Sandra Lee Porcelli passed in Anchorage, Alaska, at Alaska Regional Hospital. She fought long and hard, yet never made a full recovery from what she flippantly called "a run in with a possessed shopping cart" in March of this year. Her last day was spent with family at her bedside, grateful for the opportunity to say their final goodbyes. She was 74.

Sandra was born on July 22, 1946, in Fargo, N.D. She trekked north with her family as a toddler in 1947, in a bus her parents brought up for the O' Hara Bus Line. Alaska has been home ever since. She graduated from East Anchorage High in 1964, she met and married Bob shortly thereafter. Sandi spent the early years of their marriage as a homemaker and taking care of the neighborhood kids in their - then - Nunaka Valley home.

Sandi found her true calling when she went to work as a courier at Express Delivery Service over 20 years ago. It was more than just a job to her; she made it her life, happily making the midnight and weekend runs for years while forming lasting friendships along the way. Her hard work, kind words and sweet potato pie have left countless people in both Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley with a story to tell or a fond memory of Sandi.

Though she made affection a challenge at times, her love for family and friends ran deep and she will be greatly missed. So, too will her German chocolate cake, famous fudge and potato salad!

Sandi is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert "Bob" Porcelli; daughter, Deb Kirk; son, James Porcelli; granddaughters, Meranda Kirk and Alyssa Porcelli; grandson, Colin Porcelli; and three great-grandchildren, Reggie, Xavier and Ari, all of Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley; as well as her sister, Pamela Fynskov of Pahrump, Nev. Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Gladys White; brother, Roger White; and grandson, Erick Porcelli.

Abiding by Sandi's wishes, the family has opted to forego a traditional celebration of life.
