Anchorage resident, Phyllis Wilson, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2020 with her family at her side.  A Mass will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, November 27th at Saint Benedict’s Catholic Church, Anchorage. A rosary will be recited prior to Mass at 11:30am.  Burial of the cremated remains will be at 2:30pm at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.

Phyllis was born on January 1, 1939 in Kippens, Newfoundland, Canada to Gordon and Bertha Gaudon. She was the eldest child with 11 siblings.

Phyllis met and married Frank Wilson while he was stationed at Ernest Harmon Air Force Base in Newfoundland.  Phyllis was an important part of Frank’s military career, which included assignments to Altus AFB, OK; Blytheville AFB, AR; Goose AFB Labrador, Canada; Lackland AFB, TX; USAF Academy, CO; Elmendorf AFB, AK and Lowry AFB, CO.

Phyllis was a person of faith and lived life to serve others.  She was involved with the Catholic Church in Anchorage and Elmendorf AFB with the Legion of Mary.  It did not matter what faith you were, she always welcomed newcomers to Elmendorf by visiting temporary quarters to see if families had any needs.  She made weekly visits to Elmendorf Hospital to visit the sick and spent time with military wives who had spouses deployed.  Phyllis was involved in the Prison Ministry on Fort Richardson in Alaska and Lowry AFB in Colorado.  She volunteered and provided a monthly social hour for residents of Providence Horizon House for many years.

Phyllis was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Bertha; mother-in-law, Minnie Mae McCutchen; brothers, Harold, Guy and Derrick Gaudon; sister, Priscilla Murphy; son, Rick Wilson and granddaughter, Melissa Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; sons, Bob (Kim) Wilson and Russ (Donna) Wilson; daughter Sandi (Chris) Dobbins; daughter-in-law, Anita Wilson; grandchildren, Chris and Steve Wilson; Amanda (Dan) Mitchell; Derek and Ryan Dobbins and Sherry (Wille) Hardy; great grandchildren, Ashton Wilson, Bryce Dobbins, Katelyn and Ricky Hardy; sisters, Linda Taylor, Geni Sunquist, Maureen (Ivan) Martin, Barbara (Andrew) Norris, Sandy (Ron) Cunney;brothers, Jerry and Raymond Gaudon and sister-in-law, Veronica Gaudon.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the 3rd Medical Group for the compassionate care they provided Phyllis in her final weeks.  A special thank you to Providence Hospice Care for the care they provided to Phyllis and the support they continue to give the family.
