Born in Charlotte, NC
Resided in Anchorage, Alaska

Paul Decosta Moore Jr., fondly known as Dusty by his family and friends, passed away suddenly on Aug. 19, 2020, doing what he loved to do, hiking on Flattop Mountain. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Griffith Moore; and his brother, Michael. He is survived by his father, Paul Decosta Moore Sr.; and sisters, Kathy, Karin, Kelly and Jennifer.

Paul was born on March 21, 1953, in Charlotte, N.C. He spent his early days in Florida, enjoying beaches and lakes with his family and friends. His sense of adventure led him to the state of Alaska at age 19, where he worked in construction and the fishing industry. He earned degrees in chemistry and biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He worked at Prudhoe Bay as an environmental scientist and eventually relocated to Anchorage, where he worked in real estate. He was the owner/broker of Distinctive Properties.

Paul was a source of strength, support and laughter to his friends and family and an inspiration to younger people. He was a kind and generous soul who made the world a better place. He was a loving son and brother, with whom we shared precious memories and had anticipated sharing many more. He was the best of us and we will miss him terribly. May he rest in peace.

A memorial service and celebration, with appropriate social distancing, will be held outdoors on the lawn at 10081 Flattop Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020, at 4 p.m. Bring your own food, drinks and masks.
