Obituary

Patricia Ann Jeffress Moore, 73, passed away at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center on Friday, July 13, 2018 due to complications after a lengthy hospital stay. A celebration of Life will be held on July 29, 2018 in her honor. Family and friends will be notified of the details.

Patricia was born on July 29, 1944 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Jack and Magdalene (Vigus) Jeffress. She came to Alaska in July of 2017, to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Prior to moving to Alaska, Patricia was living in Goldsboro, North Carolina in an assisted living home. She was a hard worker, spending many years in food service; she retired from Walnut Creek Country club in Goldsboro, North Carolina, where she was well liked by her co-workers, as well as the patrons of the club. She had also worked at the Steak Barn and Wilber’s BBQ in Goldsboro.
Patricia may not have belonged to a church; but she was spiritual and prayed. She believed in God and was thankful for his many blessings in her life, including, being able to come to Alaska and be close to her family.

Patricia loved collecting Moose knick-knacks. On a visit to Alaska prior to moving here, she got to kiss Denali the Moose at the reindeer farm in the Butte, Alaska. It was one of her favorite memories and she talked about it for many years! She loved spending time with family and friends. Sharing a meal together or watching TV. She was an avid dog lover and any stray she found, she would care for until she could reunite them with their owner.

In her free time, Patricia enjoyed country music and “Mid land” was her new favorite band. She even talked about seeing them play at the Alaska State Fair this year. She enjoyed word search puzzles and bird watching, she loved all animals. You would never see her without her earrings and every morning before her daughter went to work she would ask if “she was wearing hers too.” She was always excited to search for “treasures” at local thrift stores.
Her daughter, Deana, shared; “Mama, I’m so thankful you came to Alaska to live with me and for all the memories we made! Forever in my heart! I love you!!! She loved her family and we loved her too.”

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Deana Martin of Wasilla, Alaska and Amy Moore of LaGrange, North Carolina; grandchildren, Heather Sawyer and Brandon Sawyer of Wasilla, AK, Jeremy Moore of LaGrange, NC, Jacob Moore and Krystal Martin of Goldsboro, NC and Elizabeth Gatdula of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Linda Smith of Joshua, Texas and Karen Ney of Cleburne, TX; and brother,
Robert Jeffress of Fort Worth, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Magde Jeffress and brother, Gary Jeffress.
