Mrs. Mitsuko Hirakawa Miller, born on Sept. 20, 1937, in Okinawa, Japan, passed away on April 10, 2018, in Anchorage, Alaska.
She retired in 1999, after working for Duty Free Shoppers at the International Airport for 16 years. Prior to that, Mitsuko attended beauty college and worked in that profession for 10 years. She loved cooking and gardening in her free time. Mitsuko was a longtime AOKK member.
Mitsuko was the beloved wife of the late William C. Miller, who was honored with a purple heart for his bravery as a sergeant in the army during World War II. William and Mitsuko married in Okinawa, Japan, and shortly there-after moved to Anchorage in August 1968.
She is survived by her son, Kenu Miller; daughter, Sue Fisk; grandchild, Nicole Fowler; and great-grandchildren, Haley Thomas and John A. Fowler IV. She also leaves behind her dog, Tado.
Our memories of Mitsuko will live forever in our hearts.
Her daughter, Sue, is planning a funeral and celebration of life sometime in July. The date is still yet to be determined. If you were a friend of Mitsuko and would like to attend, please contact Sue at 907-250-7819 to be placed on a guest list and for more information.
