Obituary

Martha "Miki" Louise Hayden was born in Northampton, Mass., on March 11, 1946, and passed away peacefully in Anchorage, Alaska, on Sept. 23, 2014. Miki moved to Alaska shortly after the 1964 earthquake and loved the land of the midnight sun, staying with her new extended family and friends. Miki was the daughter of the late Elmer and Sarah (Shea) Hayden. She is survived by her three children, Donna Yonkoske (Dale), Leah Fielding and Thomas Fielding III; her two grandchildren, Erin White and Whitney Gephart (Robert); along with her three great-grandchildren, Mercy, Bobby (Hammy) and Lexi Gephart, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her five siblings, Elmer (Skip) Hayden (Annmarie) of Kingman, Ariz.; Michael Hayden of Northampton, Mass.; Robert Hayden (Dianna) of Easthampton, Mass.; Grace Lively of Northampton, Mass., and Mary Isherwood (Dave) of Oakdale, Conn. During her lifetime, Miki also "adopted" several more children and a ton more grandchildren, whom she adored. Miki loved bingo, Pepsi, reading, shipping and most of all her love of world history. She was always there to help those in need when she could. She loved to find new places to read about, cultures to look at and never leave the beauty of Alaska. "Why go, I have it all right here. I've lived and loved Alaska for the last 50 years." Per her wishes, there will not be a service as she did not want anybody mourning her loss, but celebrating the life she had. Since she has donated her corneas to Life Alaska Donor Services, she will get to see the world from another perspective that she might not have otherwise. Arrangements entrusted to the Cremation Society of Alaska. Words of comfort can be shared at www.alaskacremation.com.
