Resided in Anchorage, Alaska

Marlene Maxine Anderson, 75, accomplished artist, loving wife and proud mother, passed away on the evening of July 27, 2020, at St. Elias in Anchorage, Alaska.

Born in Morgan, Minn., in 1945, Marlene attended Northwestern Nursing school in St. Paul, Minn., becoming a Registered Nurse. She then worked and lived in Jackson, Wyo., where she met Steve Anderson, her constant companion for 50 years, and husband for 47. Together they sought outdoor adventure and soon moved to Alaska in the autumn of 1971, where they built a house and life.

She treasured and was a steadfast champion of her two sons, Hans and Tyler. Her encouragement and support was unmatched and unwavering. Everyone she cared for was given everything she could to ensure their warmth, comfort and happiness.

She was active in the Anchorage arts community, and her watercolor paintings depicting the beauty of life in the Alaska countryside are sold and collected across the state.

Marlene is preceded in death by her mother and father, Elsie and Max Dummer; and her uncle, Bill Dummer. She is survived by her two sisters, Janeal Hoppe and Shirley Grabow; her husband, Steve; and her two sons, Hans and Tyler.

The bravery and strength she possessed is an inspiration to everyone she touched. She will be dearly missed by all.

A memorial will be held at a later date.
