Obituary

Linda "Chickie" Kay Clemente, a Cordova lifelong resident, passed away on June 2, 2014, at the Alaska Native Medical Center, Anchorage due to complications from Pneumonia and Cirrhosis of the liver.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2014, at Cremation Society of Alaska, 7216 Lake Otis Parkway, Anchorage. Another service will be held in Cordova, on Saturday, June 14th.

Chickie was born to Fannie Anderson, in Cordova on February 9, 1950. A lifelong Cordova resident, Bob Clemente, adopted Chickie. She grew up and attended school in Cordova. She worked in the local canneries where she held all positions in the industry. She also was employed at the Alaskan Bar and Hotel, where she was the housekeeper and janitor. Chickie was always generous and a loving soul. She always was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who might be in need of some help. She was always there for the kids. She spent time taking them swimming, berry picking, camping, picnicking, fishing and even target practicing, as well as teaching some to drive a vehicle. Chickie will be remembered for her wonderful and positive sense of humor and was always the life of the party. Chickie was known by many people throughout the State of Alaska. Those who knew her loved her dearly and will miss her immensely.

Linda (Chickie) is survived by her brother, Joseph Anderson; Sisters, Frances Regan, Shirley Simpson and Fran Anderson; Her niece she considered her daughter, Frances Villa-Miller; and her partner Geno Gilman; Brother in law Shelby Hopkins; Many nieces and nephews, close cousins and her many extended families throughout the State of Alaska. She was preceded in death by her mother, Fannie; and father Bob Clemete; Sister Marjorie Wilson, Karen Hopkins and Jewell St John.
