Obituary

Juanita Geraldine Higgins Belk passed away on May 28, 2013.

Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, June 3 at the Cremation Society of Alaska, 7216 Lake Otis Pkwy, Anchorage.

Juanita was born November 11, 1952 in Nome, Alaska to William Warren and RoseAnn Alexine Higgins. The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in the winter of 1953 where she grew up. She attended Webster Elementary School, Bryant Junior High and graduated from East High School in 1970. She loved camping in the forests and deserts of the Rocky Mountains. I believe she was the happiest as a child when she was hiking the trails of Zion National Park.

She returned to Alaska in 1973. She loved gardening, hunting, fishing, picking blueberries, cooking and baking, and spending time at her cabin at Lake Louise.

She was a very loving individual and her family will miss her presence.

She leaves behind her husband, Larry and two children, son, Bradley and daughter, Crystal; three grandchildren, Jared, Melanie, and Benjamin; two brothers, Bill (Joan) Higgins of Anchorage and James Apok of Kotzebue; three sisters, Nadine Cadman of Anchorage; Carol Ablowaluk of Teller, Alaska; and Shirley (Russ) Larson of Moreno Valley, California; her mother-in-law, Angela Belk of Eagle River and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Asitonia and Jimmy Higgins; her parents, and her father-in-law, Reed W. Belk.

Arrangements entrusted to The Cremation Society of Alaska. Words of comfort can be shared with Juanita's family at www.alaskacremation.com.
