Obituary

ur beloved son, Jeffrey Allan Spraker, died on Jan. 3, 2021, as a result of a brain aneurism.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, on Jan. 15, 1997, Jeff was known for his long, brilliant red hair, his indomitable spirit and as a friend to all who he met. Jeff graduated from Dimond High School after completing the Japanese immersion program as well as the engineering curriculum. Soccer was a passion for Jeff and he was proud to help Dimond win the state title in soccer his senior year. Jeff also ran cross-country and was a member of the high school cross-country ski team. He then attended Oregon State University and fell in love with Oregon, planning to make a life there when he graduated. He joined a service fraternity and made a host of best friends over the past several years. In June 2020, Jeff graduated from OSU with a Bachelors of Science degree in chemical engineering and a minor in chemistry. In light of the pandemic, he returned home to search for a job while studying for the graduate exam to prepare to pursue a master's degree in chemical engineering. Jeff loved sports, travel, all things Star Wars, computer games, finding and collecting nickels, chatting with his friends, puns, fantasy football and exploring the mysteries of the universe.

He is survived by his parents, Gary Spraker and Linda Johnson; sister, Samantha; as well as grandmother, Reta Johnson; uncles, Robert and Jerry Johnson of Arizona, Steven Spraker of Florida; aunts, Joni Kiser of Arizona, Cindy Williams of Florida, and Susan Jardaneh of Oregon. Although Jeff's time on this Earth was shorter than everyone hoped or expected, we are amazed by the significant impact that he had on so many lives in such a short amount of time. His final impact was selfless - when he was 20 years old he signed up to be an organ donor, and his generous gift will continue to have a positive impact on others. It is impossible to put into words the light that Jeff brought into everyday life for those who knew him and had the chance to spend time with him. Gifts in his name can be made to your local food bank to support those who need basic help during the pandemic or any organization that benefits others' lives.

A Funeral Mass for Jeff will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Anchorage, beginning at 11 a.m. COVID-19 restrictions apply and seating will be limited to 75 people inside the church and an additional 25 seats downstairs. Masks will be required. Alternatively, the Mass will be streamed live via the Saint Benedict Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/stbenedictsak. Those attending remotely may leave comments to note their attendance, or wishes to Jeff and his family.
