Obituary

The doors to Heaven opened up on Aug. 1, 2020, and welcomed David Franklin Chambers into our Father's kingdom.

He was born in Olympia, Wash., to Gilbert Sr and Marian Chambers. His earlier years were spent following his mother from Washington to Japan and Alaska. He worked for the Municipality of Anchorage in the transportation department until he retired to California in 1985. After many adventures, he returned to Anchorage in 1995. He enjoyed traveling, art, writing and Eeyore. His creative talents led him to designing a couple logos for the MOA, a T-shirt for Identity, ideas for the gay pride floats and making and donating a rainbow for his community. One of many accomplishments was forming the longest independent HIV support group that ran for 8 years. He touched everyone he met and knew with his zest for life and its adventures, wonderful sense of humor and positive attitude. His friends and acquaintances would smile and say how they loved hearing about his travels and stories of his life, remembering how special he was.

The Woluf is survived by his lifelong partner, Frank Tere Gordon; brothers, Tom and Ted Gordon; sisters, Alfreda, Maria, Emily, Dorothy and Bernadette Gordon; brothers, Gilbert Jr. and Claude Chambers; nephews, Chris of Utah, Curtis of Washington, Adrienne of Texas, Aaron and Scott of Alaska; and numerous friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later, due to the pandemic.
