Constance Rodgers

September 4, 1945 - April 16, 2020
Resided in Palmer, Alaska

Connie Rodgers passed away peacefully in her home on April 16, 2020, at the age of 74. Born Constance Martha Trent on September 4, 1945, in Glendale, California, her family moved to Kodiak in 1946.

Most of Connie’s formative years were at Kodiak, remembered fondly in picnics and other activities there. They moved to Anchorage where she graduated with the first senior class at East High School in 1963.

Connie attended Brigham Young University for nursing. She married Neal Martin in 1971, then served as a nurse in Israel where all four of their children were born. Back in Alaska she earned a Bachelor’s degree at Alaska Pacific University and a Master’s degree through Trinity College. Connie married Jim Rodgers in 1993 and they lived in Valdez, Palmer, Barrow (now Utqiagvik), Copper Center, and Homer. She often worked as a clinical therapist.

Connie Rodgers was the real Alaska deal. Her greatest joy was her family. Connie was also active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, always cared about others, worked to improve life in our communities, and helped to make Alaska a better place for us all.

She is preceded in death by her parents John Parkinson Trent, Marion Pike Trent, and step-mother Marcie Waldron Trent; step-brother Larry Waldron, and brother-in-law Mel David. She is survived by her husband Jim Rodgers, ex-husband Neal Martin; her siblings: John “Jack” (Gerda) Trent, Goodwin (Debra) Trent, Margaret David, Steve Waldron, Frank Waldron, and Jan Waldron; her children Talya (Troy) Johnson, Yael (Jeremy) Hickok, Avigail (Westen) Curry, and David Martin; 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
