Born in Dallas, Texas
Resided in Anchorage, Alaska

Cheri Dianne Ford, 69, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away on June 9, 2020. She passed at home with her family present. Cheri was born on June 10, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, to Lloyd and Eloise Phelps, and moved to Anchorage in 1964.

Her marriage of 48 years was to her high school boyfriend and soul mate, Earl Ford. For 40-plus years they worked together building a construction business in Anchorage.

Cheri and husband were longtime active members of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Anchorage.

She was known for her bright smile and warm personality. She was always ready to be of help - the first to volunteer when there was a job to be done. Loving memories of her unselfish choices will be for family and friends the legacy she left them.

She loved spending her time with her children and grandchildren, but enjoyed quiet time working with little arts and crafts projects, tending the family vegetable garden and her flowers.

Cheri was preceded in death by her oldest son, Brandon Ford; father and mother, Lloyd and Eloise Phelps; father- and mother-in-law, Leonard and Margaret Ford; brother-in-law, Max Zamora; and sisters-in-law, Mary Tangalin and Rachel Chace.

She is survived by her husband, Earl; children, Shannon and Zach; sisters, Valerie Zamora and Cindy Hall; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cassie Ford; brother-in-law, Keith Hall; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Aug. 15, 2020, at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 5614 Cobbler Drive in Anchorage.
