Andre Mays passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2014, at Alaska Regional Hospital. Andre was born on Sept. 27, 1953, in Seattle, Wash., to King and Maurine Mays. He lived most of his life in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, where he worked for different companies starting with Unisea Corp. and Delta Western Fuel. He was proud of the fact that he took Alex Hailey, author of "Roots," fishing and he had it on tape. Andre was a good-hearted person who helped anyone who needed it. He will be deeply missed. Andre leaves behind to mourn his sister, Cookie; brother-in-law, Thomas; niece, Tia; and great-nephew, King in Alaska. He leaves behind to mourn in the "Lower 48," his daughter, Tianna; son, Jarred; his father, King; sisters, Debbie (Curtis), Yvonne (Cleveland), Karen, Ava and Paullette; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; and aunties, one whom is 105 years old. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maurine; and sister, Diane. Services will be held at a later date in Seattle. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Alaska. Words of comfort can be shared at
