Biography

Timothy J. Wright passed away at his home on Friday June25, 2010. He was 54. Attached by its mountains, woodlands and fish-filled oceans, Tim came to Alaska in 1985. The loving husband and devoted father of five sons was an avid boater and passionate fisherman of halibut- a pursuit he shared with his treasured sons. Other sports played a happy role in Tim's life. He loved baseball, football- the San Francisco 49ers was his favorite team. He followed the basketball fortunes of Gonzaga University (his father, Dick Wright, was the long-time play-by-play broadcaster for the Spokane team).

Tim was born in Spokane in 1956, he attended public school there as well as Spokane Community College, the Ron Bailey School of Broadcasting and the Mortgage Banking Association where he studied credit and collections. He went on to a career in finance. Tim worked at the office of Aschenbrenner Law Office/Recovery Management,Inc., Key Bank of Alaska and at Fannie Mae as a property manager. Tim served two years in the United States Army attaining the rank of sergeant and was honorable discharged in 1977.

His family said, " Tim knew great joy in Alaska. He would often retreat to the cabin of family friends in Ninilchik, on the bluff, overlooking the ocean. His church was also a source of peace and solace in this noisy world. Possessed of an amazing sense of humor, Tim was great fun. He loved keeping in touch with his large family and playing practical jokes and telling jokes to the delight of his audience"

Beyond his official career, Tim was gifted with a talent for working with his hands, repairing appliances, creating beautiful works of wood and building decks for his own home and those of friends. He was always willing and eager to help others.

Tim is survived by his wife, Helen A Wright, Sons Matthew, Tyler, Brandon, Konnor and Taylor. Also surviving are his mother, Dorothy, sisters Michele, JoAnn, Kathryn and brothers Robert, Daniel and Lawrence, and Aunt Barbara Ann Reddinger, and Uncle Dick Reddinger, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his father Dick Wrightand sister Therese Wright. He will be deeply missed by loved ones and friends.
