Obituary

Leaving his childhood home of Bemidji, Minnesota for the opportunity and beauty of Alaska, Bill Stott built his first house in Anchorage at the age of 18. Bill met his wife of nearly 60 years, Maria "Mary", on a blind date during his many travels, and after a nine week whirlwind romance and garden wedding, introduced the California girl to Alaska where he built a second home and together they raised their two children, Alan and Renae.
Bill was a self-made man that created, invented, constructed and never lost his sense of wonder, ambition, and tenacity. He was an investor, entrepreneur, a businessman and owner of General Pest Control with his wife Mary and son Alan always by his side.
He passed in the comfort of the family home while being cared for solely by his loving wife during his 16 years of Peripheral Neuropathy. He was known to the neighbors and neighborhood dogs, from Arctic and Blueberry to Valley of the Moon Park, as the man who walked two miles a day with the unique walker he built himself, ignoring the doctor's insistence that he use a wheelchair. His distinctive walker, built from bicycles and equipped with a seat and hand warmers for subzero temperatures, was his signature mark, allowing him to bask in the friendship of everyone he met along the way. His stubborn nature and perseverance added many years of mobility to his life.
Bill is survived by a large extended family, his adoring wife, Mary and their children, Alan and Renae. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren, Anthony, Jonathan, Derek, Jesse, Monica, Nicole, and Danna; great grandchildren; his two sisters, Betty Montbriand and Victoria Rearick, and his very close cousin "Mitzi" Rusco (Norman).
As per his wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, just remember him as he was.
Bill was a force to be reckoned with.
He will be missed terribly.
