Samantha Lynn Griffiths, 26, was born December 5, 1991 in Goleta, California. She was adopted at birth by Robert and Kathy Griffiths of Peters Creek, Alaska. She attended Chugiak and Swanson Elementary, Palmer Middle School, and both Palmer and Service High Schools. She spent time in Utah and lived for several years in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sam was beautiful and had a smile that lit up the room. She knew how to make you instantly feel like you were family. She loved music, dancing, and the Dallas Cowboys. She was sassy, headstrong, independent, and lived life on her own terms.
She is survived by her son, Daniel King Jr. (5) and his Grandparents, Shane and Acacia King of Las Vegas, Nevada; her parents Bob and Kathy Griffiths (Juneau, AK); siblings: Sarah Mandeville (Joshua, Leavenworth KS), Gretchen Binion (Marcus, Kent WA), Kathryn Griffiths (Wasilla, AK), and Alexander, Raylynn, and Matthew Griffiths (Juneau, AK). She is survived by seven nieces and nephews; many extended family members in OR, WA, and Nevada; and her biological family living in Henderson, NV.
Samantha fought for many years with addiction. She lost her battle on December 22,2017 in Anchorage, Alaska, when she died from a hypoxic brain injury due to an asthma attack exacerbated by drug use. She had been on life support for five days and never had a chance at recovery. The family would like to thank all of the RN’s, Doctors, and hospital staff at Alaska Regional Critical Care Unit for taking such good care of Samantha.
All condolences can be sent to PO Box 20922, Juneau, AK 99802. A memorial service will be held for family and friends in the Spring. All arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Alaska.
