Born in Peoria, Illinois
Resided in Palmer, Alaska

Nancy Lee (Fortin) Wood, 80, passed away peacefully at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska on February 10, 2018. Nancy was born on June 5, 1937 to Lee and Eathel (Coulter) Fortin in Peoria, Illinois.
Nancy moved from Minnesota to Alaska in 1976 with her husband and children. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Palmer Pioneer Home for many years. Due to her sweet nature, she always was very attached to the residents that she cared for in the home. She also brought home great stories to share from her work day.
Mom Nancy had a vivacious, infectious personality. Her zest for life and its humorous qualities made for endless opportunities for her quick, witty humor. She was not very tall in stature but made a huge impression on all that she met with her lively spirited nature. Always with a twinkle in her eye, she will be remembered for her sometimes naughty, amusing laughable remarks. Mom Nancy will live in the hearts of all who met her as a great Mother, Wife and friend.
Nancy is survived by her current loving husband Floyd (Terry) Wood, her daughters; Karen Davidson (Palmer, AK) and Brenda Tackelson (Minnesota), seven granddaughters and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Eathel Fortin; her brother, Gordon Fortin; and her sons; David Larson and Raymond Tackelson.
Nancy was a faithful Christian and her favorite passage from the bible was Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
A remembrance of life to spread her ashes will take place at a later time for family. In remembrance of Mom, donations can be made to: Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska, 10355 E. Palmer-Wasilla Hwy., Suite 110, Palmer, AK 99645.
