Obituary

Jane Anne Gorski Wojtusik peacefully passed away on Jan. 27, 2018 at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.
Jane was born June 25, 1946 to Henry and Lillian Gorski (Levine) in Bristol, CT. Jane attended school in CT: St. Stanislaus, Southside, Bristol Central High for 1960-64, Northwestern Connecticut Community College for 1965-1967, and Central Connecticut State College for 1967-1968. Her parents threw Jane and Henry Wojtusik a wonderful engagement party the night astronauts landed on the moon in 1969. They married on May 16, 1970 at St Stanislaus (the Polish Catholic Church) in Bristol.
The couple then moved to Alaska in May of 1970 and lived there for the rest of their lives.
In Anchorage, Jane worked at First National Bank, Alaska National Bank of the North as a mortgage officer, stopped to raise three children, returned to work for AT&T Alascom, and finally at ML&P for 5 happy years, before retiring in 2011. After retiring, Jane has loved being a grandmother to Lillian, Jackson and Phillip. Jane also stayed busy as a volunteer for the Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau for fifteen years.
Jane is survived by son Henry and wife Emma, son Vincent and wife Danielle, daughter Genevieve and husband Jared, granddaughter Lillian and grandsons Jackson and Phillip, Gorski cousins and one aunt, and the Marcinczyk cousins.
Jane met Vicki Smith while at Bank of the North in 1975 and were best friends ever since. Jane met Maureen (O'Laughlin) Green in high school in CT and remained great friends for life, highlighted by fall trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Other good friends include Chris Lobb and Mary Batten of Anchorage.
Jane's hobbies included gardening, traveling, reading, photography, art museums, movies, being with her children and grandchildren, and all types of music. She was an excellent writer and a wonderful cook. Jane loved to laugh and was always an optimist. She had an infectious smile and her laugh would light up any room. Strangers and friends alike would always remark how joyful Jane was. Becoming a mom and grandma were Jane's lifetime goals and she was elated to have achieved them both.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Parish, 2111 Muldoon Road, on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at 2 p.m. with a reception following the mass in the parish hall.
