Obituary

Queenie “Helen” Ululani Davis passed away on May 22, 2018, in Anchorage, AK at the age of 71, due to health complications while battling cancer. Helen, a native Hawaiian, was born on August 20,1946, in Honolulu, HI to Paul and Phoebe Lawelawe. Helen was a homemaker who enjoyed listening to music, watching television, shopping, knitting, cooking and playing cards. Helen was courageous and remained strong willed throughout her final months. She will be lovingly remembered as “Grandma” and for her aloha that made you feel part of the family.
Helen wed Dwight Davis on October 23, 1997, at Turning Point Community Church in Anchorage. They relocated to Kenai, AK where they established Davis and Son's Pit BBQ. There, the couple lived and raised their three grandsons.
Helen was the matriarch of her ‘ohana who leaves her memory to be carried in the hearts of her husband, Dwight Davis; children, Yolanda Wray (Robert, best friend), Sylvester and Melveen Byrd; grandchildren: Razzmin, Randonn, and Rylonn Wray; Shamara, Martel, Masonn, Delen, and Majestic Byrd; great-granddaughter, Amelia Stoops; step-son, Nate Davis; Six step-grandsons and step great-granddaughter; siblings, Tony and Linda Lawelawe; numerous nieces and nephews; god children, Phillip Wilson, Sababu Hodari, Jonathan Norton, Brian Hall, Adam Barger, Alexander Pappas, Jaydell and Kaleb Brown-Odom, Arianna, Hezikiah, and Nyla Odom, Liam and Molly Stafford, and a host of close friends. Helen is predeceased by her parents, Paul and Phoebe Lawelawe; brothers, Herbert and Paul Lawelawe; mother in law, Ceola Hult; and close friend, Tasha Odom.
Helen requested her cremains be scattered into Hawaii’s ocean with her mother at Kohala Beach on Oahu. Come celebrate Helen’s life on June 23, 2018, in Kenai at Davis and Son’s Pit BBQ from 2:00 to 6:00. Mahalo to all the medical providers that cared for Helen with constant compassion.
