Obituary

Craig Arthur Jackson, 65, passed away on January 25, 2018 at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

Craig was born on September 14, 1952 in LaGrande, Oregon to Arthur and Vera (Pyle) Jackson. He grew up in Pasco, Washington; attending Pasco High School. From there, Craig joined the Marines where he trained to be an Air Traffic Controller, his military service took him to California, Georgia, Japan and South Korea. Craig then went on to be an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA. His FAA career spanned over 34 years and took him to Alaska. As a Flight Service Specialist, he lived in a variety of villages and communities all over Alaska, including Cold Bay, which is where he lived at the time of his passing; and especially close to his heart, McGrath, where he made many lifelong friendships.

Craig embraced with full vigor, all the outdoor activities Alaska had to offer, hunting, fishing, hiking and enjoyed taking his boats out on the water. Craig would take any and every opportunity to share his love of the outdoors with anyone who wanted to take the trip with him. Craig made it a matter of personal pride to be knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of Alaska.

Craig is survived by his; wife, Mandy Jackson; step daughter, Olivia Applewhite; mother, Vera Jackson; stepmother, Marge Jackson; siblings, Scot (Yonnah) Jackson, Denning (Kim) Jackson,, Jaime Jackson, Joy (John) Grubenhoff ,Tom Jackson, and Dawn (Rick) Jennings, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Arthur L. Jackson; grandparents, Hazel and Everett Pyle, Leo Jackson, and Ethel Kennedy; nephew, Josh Grubenhoff.
