Obituary

Clara Velma Douglas, was born April 10, 1937 to Willie and Mary Williams in Gay, Oklahoma; she was the second oldest of ten children. As a young child Clara and her family were poor and they worked hard in cotton fields, but this upbringing fostered her love her family and made her a strong woman; she loved sharing her childhood stories with family and friends.
Clara married the love of her life, Earl J. Douglas Sr., on July 11, 1955. They moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Portland, Oregon and then to Anchorage, Alaska in 1960 where they remained to raise their six children. Clara and Earl loved people, and opened their home and heart to all they encountered, forming an unbreakable bond around this community.
Clara was a long time employee of the late Neal MacKay, working janitorial for the MacKay building and then retired from the Anchorage School District. However, her most important and fulfilling job, was that of being a mother, grandmother and mother to all her knew her.
Clara’s pride and joy was her family; she loved children. She loved fishing, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and serving the Lord. Clara made sure that her family knew about God, as was the head of her life and her strength. She would always share Gods word and His love with others, often you could find her just sitting in her chair talking or humming spiritual songs to Him
Remaining to cherish her memory is her husband of 62 years, Earl Douglas Sr.; Children Jeanetta Douglas, Earl Douglas Jr., Terri Wynn, Christopher Douglas and Donnell Douglas (Stephanie), all of Anchorage, AK; Grandchildren, Nekeysha Taylor (Derrick), Jason Allen (Dulcie), NaTasha Douglas, Alexzander Douglas (Marcianna), Maisha Douglas, Damara Carney, Earl Douglas III (Tori), Xavier Douglas(Chante), Deyon, Cantrell, Travaun Sanders, Allahjah Douglas (Jade), Nalesha Douglas-Wynn, Cherronda Douglas, Janaya Douglas, Jordan Douglas, Queen Stevenson, September Douglas-Wynn & Serrena Letourneau; Great-grandchildren, A’Alayzha, Derrick Jr, Azariah, Amayah, Aaliyah, Taejah, Jermon, Corde, JaKel, Ania, Rock, Din DaMareon, DaXavion, Xavier Jr, Deyon, Jr, Nevah, Deyonte, Kylia, Ezekiel, Travonne Jr., Jade & Jameson.; Great-Great-grandchildren, Keun & Jhaiden and her siblings, Ollie Ransum, Billie J.
