Obituary

Beverly Jean Cresap, age 82, died peacefully at home on Oct. 24, 2017, following a stroke. She was born in Blue Springs, Mo., the daughter of Claude and Cecyle Owsley.
Growing up, her family lived in Missouri, California and Oregon. She graduated from Medford High in 1953. She had no desire to attend college or to enter the business world after graduation. She just wanted her own family. She loved dancing, music, journalism and sewing.
On May 11, 1956, she married Robert Charles Cresap. They lived in Ashland, Ore., until 1978, when the youngest of their three sons graduated high school. Beverly loved her family and her life goals included being a mother, homemaker and a good wife. She worked for Harry & David Inc. until Robert, who owned his own Farmers Insurance business, needed help in the office.
After Robert's retirement, they settled in Reedsport, Ore., in 1993. They loved the beauty of the coast. Bev began working for McKay's in 1994. She loved her Reedsport friends, and viewed many of them as extended family. After she retired, she volunteered at Rebecca's Lodge and Reedsport's senior center. This work fulfilled her.
In 2012, she moved to Chugiak, Alaska, to be closer to family as her health declined. She made several friends at the Chugiak Senior Center, where she attended exercise classes and regular lunches. She also looked forward to meeting with her manicurist there.
She loved helping others, and would often volunteer her time to anyone in need. She enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, bowling, was an active member of T.O.P.S. and loved a good game of pinochle or nickels. She is most remembered for her generosity, kindness and gentleness. She treasured her faith in Jesus and wrote that she would be nothing without Him. She valued her family and believed she had a good life.
